The physicians who formed Physicians Insurance in 1981 were adamant that their new company would have stable rates. They had experienced too many years of what seemed like arbitrary rate fluctuations from the commercial carriers, and they wanted to establish the new company as a dependable source of protection to benefit physicians. Through the years, Physicians Insurance has been vigilant about maintaining careful financial monitoring, conservative investment strategies, and stable rates for physicians and clinics. Armed with detailed information from our actuary, our physicians on the Board of Directors annually review recommendations for any changes in rates. Physicians and staff at the company know it is essential that rates remain fair and reserves remain adequate, year after year.
