Shelley Knick, BSN, RN, CPHRM
Senior Clinical Risk Consultant
Shelley Knick is a Senior Clinical Risk Consultant at Physicians Insurance. She joined the company in 2019 and has more than 20 years of healthcare-industry experience in risk management and consulting, as well as clinical experience.
Prior to joining Physicians Insurance, Shelley spent over a decade at MultiCare Health System in Washington, most recently as Risk Manager for Tacoma General Hospital. During her time at MultiCare, she held several other leadership roles including Hospital Nursing Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor of the Emergency Department, and Manager of the Cardiac Cath Lab. She also led the development of the STAT nurse program, a clinical resource in the acute care setting, and the redesign of the organization’s billing risk adjustment process. During her tenure, she was honored as MultiCare Good Samaritan’s Samaritan of the Year. Before she worked with MultiCare, her experience spanned staff nursing, travel nursing, and legal nurse consulting.
A registered nurse, Shelley earned a bachelor’s degree in Science with a major in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati. She is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) and a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM). She is a member of the Georgia State Healthcare Risk Managers Association (GSHRM) and a former trustee on the board of the Washington Healthcare Risk Management Society (WHCRMS ). As part of her work related to sepsis, Shelley has participated in presentations for the International Society for Rapid Response Systems and the Northwest Organization of Nurse Executives.
